Naskila Gaming to continue operations despite court opposition
The Texas facility welcomed more than 38.000 players in its first three months, despite a possible shutdown.
US.- The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe Of Texas casino, Naskila Gaming, announced that they received more than 38.000 players in its first three months of operation. The casino style gaming facility located near Livingston faces opposition from state officials that claim that the activity is illegal since casino gambling is not allowed in the state.
Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General, filed a petition with the united States District Court for the Eastern District Of Texas back in July, asking the authorities to overrule some sections of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act 1988 and close the casino. Kayleigh Lovvorn, a spokesperson for the conservative Republican Paxton, told Houstonia that “their electronic bingo machines are an illegal lottery.”
A spokesperson for the tribe said that Naskila Gaming is allowing them to be self-sufficient, and he commented that since the opening of the facility, more than 200 new jobs with benefits were created, and they’re expecting to go even further.
