NagaWorld casino opens new shopping facility

A large commercial facility partially opened in the basement of the NagaWorld casino in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Cambodia.- Yesterday (Wednesday) a large commercial facility partially opened in the basement of the NagaWorld casino in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.

The 13,000 sq. meter facility was built by NagaCorp, the biggest Cambodian hotel and gaming operator listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange, to lure in wealthy Chinese visitors to the casino.

At the shopping centre, Asian visitors are greeted by the staff in Chinese. Although signboards, pamphlets, price tags and other materials are written in several languages, Chinese lettering is the biggest. At this point, Chinese already account for 80 percent to 90 percent of NagaWorld’s visitors.

NagaWorld is visited by wealthy people from China, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea and Japan. However, the number of Chinese visitors has increased greatly due to the current Cambodian administration’s friendly stance towards China.

The casino operator has built the new commercial facility to tap into wealthy Chinese tourists’ keen shopping habits. The core tenant in the shopping centre, is leading Chinese duty-free shop operator China International Travel Service. The commercial facility is set to be fully opened by October.
