Missouri casinos to stay closed for 2 more weeks
Riverboat casinos in Missouri will not be allowed to open until after May 15 despite lockdown measures being eased from next week.
US.- Casinos in Missouri will remain closed for two more weeks despite some lockdown measures being lifted in the state from next week.
Gov. Mike Parson ordered a state lockdown from March 17, which was then extended until midnight of May 3 as part of efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
But some businesses are set to reopen from May 4, despite a recent spike of cases in the state and the US being the current epicentre for the pandemic.
Riverboat casinos in Missouri will not be allowed to open until after May 15, with the midwestern state hoping to delay large gatherings of people once the statewide lockdown is over.
In a short statement, the Missouri Gaming Commission said: “The Missouri Gaming Commission has extended the order for all riverboat gaming casinos to remain closed through 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 15th, 2020.
“MGC previously ordered all riverboat gaming casinos in the state to
temporarily suspend their casino operations and to close effective midnight March 17, 2020 due to concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
