Mississippi sports betting revenues down in February
Revenues fall to just US$2.8million despite handle increasing 37.5% YoY to US$34.5 million.
US.- Mississippi sports betting revenue fell 45% month-on-month to just US$2.8million, according to figures from the Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC).
Despite revenues declining, sport betting handle increased 37.5% year-on-year to US$34.5 million.
While a marked improvement on the previous year, handle was still down 23.7% compared to the US$45.2 million posted in January.
Online sports betting
Mississippi lawmakers have rejected a Bill that would legalise online sports betting in the state.
The Magnolia state’s sports betting market is currently limited to retail, with mobile wagering allowed only within brick-and-mortar casinos.
According to local press, there has been many attempts to legalise the online sports betting in the state.
One proposal, House Bill No. 172, died in the House Gaming Committee on Tuesday. Another bill, Senate Bill No. 2613, also died Tuesday in the Senate Gaming Committee.
The same happened to Senate Bill No. 2614, House Bill No. 959, and House Bill No. 941, all of which included mobile sports betting provisions.
