Mississippi to sell lottery tickets next month
Mississippi has announced that it has approved the first retailers that will sell lottery tickets starting on November 25.
US.- The Mississippi Lottery Corp has announced that it will start selling lottery tickets on November 25. The first retailers that will offer lottery tickets have been approved in the state, which is ready to launch its lottery operations.
While Lottery officials were expecting to launch the business on December 1, they agreed to kick off the sale of scratch-off lottery tickets a week earlier, Lottery Post revealed. Other lottery tickets like Powerball and Mega Millions will go on sale easy next year.
The Mississippi Lottery’s website details that over 400 retailers have been approved to sell lottery tickets in the state. The entity has also emailed acceptance letter to the approved retailers. Lottery Places is an app available for users that want to check where they can locate lottery retailers in the US.
”The pillar of the lottery is having successful retailers on board,” said Mississippi Lottery President Tom Shaheen. “We are working with retailers to ensure they are well-prepared for launch.”
Mississippi Lottery set its sights on advertising
The Lottery has chosen the Maris West and Baker firm to handle all advertising and marketing activity for a period of three years.
The move from the Lottery aims to establish itself as profitable. It will sign a three-year contract with Maris West and Baker, which will create and buy ads for the lottery. The Mississippi Lottery will kick off its operations in December, Charlotte Observer reported.
Meg Annison, lottery communications director, said that payments to the marketing firm will differ every year, and will equal approximately 11.5% of the lottery’s advertising and marketing budget. The current one ends on June 30, 2020, and sets US$3.5 million for advertising and marketing. Of that money, Maris West and Baker will receive around US$400k.
