Mississippi casinos see increase in revenue
Despite operating at 50% capacity with social distance measures, casinos in Mississippi have seen an increase in revenue against 2019.
US.- Casinos in the state of Mississippi have reported US$28.9 million in gross gaming revenue after Memorial Day weekend.
According to the Mississippi Gaming Comission, the figure represents an increase of US$5 million against the same weekend in 2019, providing an unexpected recovery amid the Covid-19 pandemic, considering casinos were operating at 50 per cent capacity.
The state’s casinos reopened their doors on May 21, just a few days before Memorial Day weekend began, but the largest venue in the state, the Beau Rivage, remained closed.
Meanwhile, the US’s largest gambling hub, Las Vegas, will reopen most of its casinos today after reporting a 99 percent year-over-year drop in revenue in April.
