The Mississippi Gaming Commission has announced that casinos in the state can start to reopen from May 21.
Casinos have been closed in the state from March 16 after the government took steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The reopening of the state’s casinos comes just before Memorial Day weekend, which marks the beginning of the summer tourist season.
It is likely that the Commission will release safety guidelines later today, which will include requirements for social distancing between customers, regular cleaning of slot machines and other equipment and temperature checks for staff and customers.
One casino in Mississippi has already redesigned its gaming floor for social distancing ahead of reopening.
