Maryland passes sports betting bill

Bill clears the Senate on the last day of the current legislative session.

US.- Maryland has finally passed sports betting legislation with the bill clearing the Senate on the final day of the current legislative session.

The Senate approved the bill after House voted 129-3 in favour of the legislation on Tuesday.

The final decision to allow sports betting in the state will be put to a voter ballot in November.

The referendum will coincide with the Presidential election.

They will be asked: “Do you favour the expansion of commercial gaming in the State of Maryland to authorise sports and event betting for the primary purpose of raising revenue for education?”
