A joint venture announced that the location for the third casino in the state has been decided.
US.- MMCT Venture, conformed by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, announced that they finally reached a decision regarding the location of an upcoming third casino in Connecticut.
MMCT said that the facility will be located 15 miles south of MGM Springfield. The tribes announced that the third US$250 million casino is set to be built near the border with Massachusetts to compete with the US$950 million MGM Resorts international project that will open its doors in the summer of 2018. East Windsor announced on Saturday that the company signed an agreement that could allow them to host an upcoming third casino in Connecticut. The company expressed its intentions to build the gambling facility at the old Showcase Cinemas, a 200,000 square feet venue that could offer 2000 slot machines and approximately 150 table games, as well as other entertainment and dining options.
“From the beginning, we’ve said that we want to site our new facility in a town that’s eager to have us. East Windsor fits that bill, and we’re thrilled to enter into a partnership with them,” said in a statement Rodney Butler, Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation operates the Foxwoods Resort Casino near Ledyard, whilst the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority is responsible for the Mohegan Sun resort in Uncasville.
