Isle of Man appoints Head of Esports
The government agency dedicated to developing the island’s digital sector has appointed a Head of Esports to begin work next month.
UK.- Digital Isle of Man has created a new role of Head of Esports to promote and develop the sector on the island.
The executive agency, which was formed by the island’s government to support the digital sector, has appointed former Amber Gaming esports specialist Chris Kissack to the new role.
He will begin in the new position on August 3 and will work on launching the agency’s own esports proposition, which it is anticipated could attract esports players to the island.
Digital Isle of Man Chief Executive, Lyle Wraxall, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Chris to our team; it was vital that we found the right candidate to drive forward this new and exciting venture for the Island.
“Chris’s experience in the sector, expert knowledge and enthusiasm for Isle of Man’s esports proposition made him a perfect fit for the role.”
Kissack joined Amber Gaming, which provides licensing, regulatory compliance, accounting, training and other corporate services for online gambling and esports companies, in August last year.
Responsibilities there have included managing the distribution of tournament prize pools and protecting esports players’ benefits.
He said: “I’m looking forward to continuing my work in raising the Island’s profile within the esports space.
“I am eager to join the agency and partner with local businesses and institutions to deliver the Isle of Man’s esports strategy, embrace this thriving industry and help grow the sector for the benefit of the Island.”
