Injunction filed against PCSO

The Makati Regional Trial Court has filed a preliminary injunction against the PCSO for allegedly violating exclusive lottery supply and lease rights.

Philippines.- The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has allegedly violated Berjaya Philippines Inc’s right to control the supply and lease of lottery equipment in Luzon. In consequence, the Makati Regional Trial Court issued a writ of preliminary injuction against it for -allegedly- intervening in its exclusive business.

According to AGBrief, the injuction was imposed on August 10 and forbids the PCSO to conduct or continue “with the public bidding process and from performing any act that will violate the petitioner’s right as an exclusive supplier / lessor of lottery equipment to PCSO insofar as the Luzon territory is concerned.”

Berjaya Philippines’ Philippine Gaming Management Corp (PGMC), which aims to get three more years of exclusivity in the area (its current agreement dates back to 2007), had already entered into arbitration with PCSO in 2012, when it permitted Pacific Online Systems Corp to supply machines in Luzon.

As reported by AGB, the PCSO apparently cancelled the bidding process for the territory as soon as it got served a copy of the writ.
