Why Ilani Casino Resort shines

Royal Contract Lighting, the company chosen to develop the Ilani Casino Resort interior and exterior lighting, detailed the project’s development.

US.- The Ilani Casino Resort is just over a month old and details about the development of the project are emerging. Royal Contract Lighting was the company chosen by Fanto Group to develop custom pieces of lighting for the casino’s interior and exterior.

The US$510 million entertainment centre is a jointly operated venue between the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and Salishan-Mohegan and its located in the state of Washington, near Vancouver and Portland. The building was designed to reflect the culture of the region and pay tribute to the heritage of the Cowlitz Tribe, which may be seen as it has stone, wood and glass elements.

The company that provides decorative, architectural, interior and exterior lighting to the hospitality and commercial markets, Fanto Group, was hired for the project and chose Royal Contract Lighting to work in the Ilani Casino.

Royal Lighting provided hundreds of pieces to go with that building style, including three 49ft long, 800kg pieces designed in the form of waves, which are the largest in the venue. It also crafted 12 large fixtures for the resort’s outdoor ceilings, 10 chandeliers for the entry portal and three fixtures of hand-blown Venetian art glass that can be seen at the VIP lounge.

TotallyGaming.com interviewed Paul Spacek, president of Royal Lighting, and he commented: “Since we work in custom lighting, each project offers its own unique challenges. In the case of the Ilani Casino Resort, the sheer size of some of the fixtures – up to 49ft long – presented a challenge.”

“In this case, we created fixtures that could be built in pieces, then assembled on site, making shipping as economical as possible. Another challenge arose when producing the 36 aquatic-themed chandeliers: getting the hundreds of hand-blown glass fish just the shades of amber desired by the designer and customer took a significant amount of time.”

The US company has been growing recently and it is expanding to several markets such as the UK, Middle East and Hong Kong, according to what Spacek reported to TotallyGaming.

“Our US headquarters has outgrown the office and factory floor plan, so we are in the process of moving these functions into a new facility – one that is four times the size of our current building,” he explained. “This move makes us the largest exclusively custom lighting company in the US.”

“In addition to growing our US operations, Royal Contract Lighting is also carrying out a major expansion of our China factory. By the time it is complete, we will have quadrupled the size of that factory since its opening two years ago.”
