Gateway Casinos breaks ground in British Columbia
The Canadian operator held a ground breaking ceremony for its new project in Penticton: Cascades Casino.
Canada.- Gateway Casinos and Entertainment held a groundbreaking ceremony for its newest casino project, which is to be built in Penticton, British Columbia. Gateway Casinos currently manages 18 gambling venues across British Columbia, Ontario and Alberta.
The ceremony took place in the South Okanagan Events Centre, where the new property will be located. The gambling facility will feature slot machines, table games, a number of food and beverage and live entertainment options.
The whole project is to cost Gateway Casinos the total amount of CAD25 million (US$19 million.) Over 400 employees are to work on the casino’s construction and after its complexion, Cascades Casino will create 150 permanent jobs for city residents.
Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit commented that Gateway Casinos has long been providing its services to members of their community and that its latest investment would certainly grow Penticton’s funding, would create new jobs and would enhance the city’s vision for the whole South Okanagan Events Centre to turn into a popular entertainment destination.
On its part, Tony Santo, CEO of Gateway Casinos, said that the South Okanagan Events Centre is the best possible home for the new property. The construction of the facility will continue through 2016 and the casino is expected to open its doors in the spring of 2017.
