Gambling revenue up 7 pct in Denmark

During the fourth quarter of 2017, Danish gambling revenue was up seven per cent year-on-year.

Denmark.- According to the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA), gambling revenue for the final quarter of 2017 was up 6.9 per cent. That includes online and land-based casinos, betting facilities, gaming machines, and the rest of the market.

As reported by the regulator, online casinos revenues jumped 16.7 per cent year-on-year to €3 million, posting a five per cent increase from the third quarter. Meanwhile, sports betting also grew as it posted revenues 23.8 higher over the third quarter, and 29 per cent year-on-year. Lotteries, which are restricted to state-run operator Danske Spil, raised over €416.1 million

However, the seven land-based casinos in the country posted a decline of 4.4 per cent from the previous quarter and 3.3 per cent year-on-year. Arcade and restaurant gaming machine profits were also down by 2.5 per cent quarter-on-quarter as they lost €1.07 million.
