Detroit casinos increase revenue in February
The three facilities in the state reported an increase in revenue and gaming taxes during last month’s operations.
US.- The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) revealed on Tuesday that the three Detroit casinos reported US$114.6 million in aggregate revenue in February 2019, representing a 4.1% year-over-year increase compared to the same period in 2018.
Year-to-date aggregate revenue increased by 2.3% compared with the same period last year, and February revenue rose 2.2% above January results. Compared with February 2018, MGM’s monthly revenue rose 7.9% to US$49.5 million. MotorCity reported a 1% revenue increase to US$38.7 million, and Greektown revenue was up 1.9% to US$26.4 million.
During last month’s operations, MGM held 43% of the market share, followed by MotorCity’s 34% and Greektown’s 23%.
The three Detroit casinos paid the state of Michigan US$9.3 million in gaming taxes compared with US$8.9 million paid during February 2018. The three facilities also reported submitting US$13.6 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the city of Detroit during February.
