Demands for online gaming in Buenos Aires

Palermo’s racecourse has requested for online gambling to be permitted, in order to prevent more losses after reopening.

Argentina.- The opening of Palermo’s racecourse on the 28th of August has generated huge expectations regarding the recovery of incomes. But just as before the pandemic, the racecourse still hopes their mobile gambling app will be approved.

General manager of the racecourse, Fernando Facal, explained to Diario Popular that they still do not have the approval of the Lottery of Buenos Aires (the body which regulates their operations) to take mobile wagers.

“It massively complicates our means of income and therefore the source of income of all the racecourse; the salaries, awards, and all the chains of payments within the industry and throughout the country”, said Facal.

On top of that, Facal explained that as long as a legal platform is not enabled, the possibilities of illegal gambling increase. For this reason he called the Lottery of Buenos Aires to approve the application as soon as possible and therefore recuperate the revenues of the industry.
