The Illinois Gaming Board will consider proposals for Danville casino on March 10.
US.- Danville Development will make a virtual presentation outlining the company’s suitability for the proposed Golden Nugget Danville Casino to a meeting of the Illinois Gaming Board on March 10. The board may vote on a preliminary finding of suitability for the project.
According to Danville mayor Rickey Williams Junior, approval of the casino project’s suitability would allow construction to begin immediately. Williams said the casino would not receive an actual state gaming licence until after it opened.
“What that would mean for Danville is within 45 to 60 days, you would likely be having a groundbreaking,” said Williams. “So we could be meeting as soon as April, the end of April to do that. And from there, we would likely have a casino open, the early part of 2023.”
The proposed Golden Nugget Danville Casino would feature a 41,500 square foot gaming floor with 500 slot machines, 14 table games, two restaurants, including a Saltgrass Steakhouse, a sportsbook, and 650 surface parking spaces. The project wouldl offer an online gaming and digital sports betting platform through Golden Nugget Online Gaming.
James Wilmot, president of Danville Development said: “Danville Development, LLC is well prepared for the hearing and excited for the opportunity to present the details of this project to the Illinois Gaming Board. There is tremendous anticipation for the Golden Nugget Danville Casino, and we are looking forward to delivering what we have promised to this community.”
Wilmorite Management is co-managing the project with Golden Nugget and would be responsible for operating the casino.
Mayor Williams said: “Wilmorite has operated casinos in three different states, and Golden Nugget operates five different casinos in four states. They’re world class and world renowned. So we’re excited, because we think they will bring a world-class product here to Danville.”
