Connecticut could lose $68 million from MGM casino
The General Assembly’s fiscal office predicted the state could lose millions in revenue once MGM’s planned casino opens in the fall of 2018.
US.- The leaders of Connecticut’s recognised tribes said that once the new MGM casino opens in nearby Springfield, Massachusetts in 2018, their two casinos in southeastern Connecticut will suffer and slot-machines revenues to the state could decline.
The two federally recognised tribes formed a company that’s currently looking for sites for a jointly run border casino to compete with MGM. A spokesman said that they both need to work to prevent big losses to Connecticut.
On the other hand, MGM stated that if the state wants to maximise job creation and revenue, they should allow other developers to operate in the state. MGM is confident that they can generate way more revenue than US$68.3 million.
