Coalition in Indiana wants legislators to amend gaming law
Trade groups in Indiana hosted an event to push for the legalisation of video gaming terminals at bars and clubs across the state.
US.- A Video Gaming Coalition of trade groups reunited over 40 business people to discuss and promote the legalisation of video gaming terminals (VGTs). The coalition that’s currently pushing for state legislators to allow VGTs outside casino establishments is conformed by the Indiana Bowling Centers Association, Indiana Licensed Beverage Association, and the Indiana Amusement & Music Operators Association.
The coalition wants state legislators to amend the gaming law so they can host VGTs at bars and clubs. On the other hand, some casino operators are concerned over the fact that in another states like Illinois, casino gambling, horse racing and the state lottery have experienced a drop in revenue and only the video gambling industry continues to grow. Operators think that legalising VGTs could harm casino revenues in Indiana.
The Video Gaming Coalition dismissed this argument and said that there is a handful of reasons why the casino industry in in decline, and legalising VGTs wouldn’t have anything to do with it. They also said that allowing bars and clubs to host VGTs will generate an additional US$165 million in revenue for Indian via gaming taxes.
