Cherry boosts online gaming business
The company strengthens its management team with the appointment of Jonas Wåhlander as chief executive of its Cherry Online Gaming division
Malta.- To support and improve its Online Gambling business area, Cherry has appointed Jonas Wåhlander as chief executive of its Cherry Online Gaming division. The appointment was announced by Fredrik Burvall, Cherry Group’s CEO.
Wåhlander joins the company after serving as managing director of Universal Sony Pictures operations in the Nordic region, and has more than 15 years of experience in senior management positions in the entertainment business. With this appointment, Cherry has moved to reinforce the growth and profitability of the online gambling division.
“Cherry is a group with great values, tradition and brands that we can harvest. I’ve been very impressed by Cherry’s focus on the future and the most recent results show that the business is going very much in the right direction.” Wåhlander expressed. And he added: “It’s our objective to act as leaders and I’m going to do everything I can to help Cherry continue to achieve that.”
Furthermore, Cherry has also announced that Marius Andersen, the chief operating officer, is to remain in the company. He will take operational ownership of Cherry Online Gaming and he will also act as the chief growth officer within the business area, exploring growth opportunities in new markets. He will report directly to Wåhlander. “Cherry’s Online Gaming business area has performed really well over the past year and I’m really excited to be in this new role, which is dependent on maximising growth,” explained Anderson regarding his new appointment.
Speaking about strengthening Cherry’s management team, Fredrik Burvall, Cherry Group chief executive, said: “Cherry’s long-term strategy is to generate continued profitable growth in online gaming, both through organic growth and acquisitions. These management changes will support Cherry Online Gaming to continue to grow faster than the market and increase our profitability.”
