Catena Media appoints Göran Blomberg as CEO

The Malta-based firm is refocusing on organic growth and strategic acquisitions as well as operational efficiency through BI and AI.

Malta.- Lead-generation company Catena Media has named Göran Blomberg as interim chief executive officer (CEO) in replacement of Per Hellberg, who left the Malta based firm on 7 January 2021.

Hellberg became CEO on 3 September 2018. He previously held the same position at Nordic Gaming Group, where he completed the divestment of the company to Betsson AB. He was CEO of Readly International AB and before that, Marketing Director for Sony Corporation.

Blomberg brings more than 30 years of managerial experience in a public listed environment to the role. He has been a member of the board of Catena Media since 2019 and chairman since 2020.

He will now stand down from that latter position to assume his new role and while a search process is conducted to find a new permanent CEO.

The firm said in a press release that Öystein Engebretsen will serve as acting chairman during Blomberg’s tenure as CEO.

He has been a member of Catena’s board since October 2018, is Investment Manager at Investment AB Öresund and board member of INSR Insurance Group ASA and Scandi Standard AB.

In line with the firm’s acquisitions-driven strategy, Engebretsen said they will now “refocus on organic growth and potential strategic acquisitions”.

He added: “Additionally, we will improve operational efficiency through an enhanced focus on BI and AI to create an even more scalable business solution.”
