Casino revenue rises in Detroit
June operations show that revenue at Detroit casinos increased 5.3 per cent from a year ago.
US.- According to numbers released by the Michigan Gaming Control Board this week, Detroit casinos increased their revenue by 5.3 per cent when compared to the same period last year. MGM Grand Casino once again took the biggest slice of the market with 44 per cent.
June brought US$119.1 million in aggregate revenue for the three gambling facilities in Detroit, and while it is a 5.3 per cent increase year-over-year, the gaming control board said that it is also a 4.4 per cent drop from May 2018.
MGM Grand Casino took 44 per cent of the market share during last month’s operations with US$51.8 million in revenue, which equals a 6.6 per cent rise over the same month in 2017. MotorCity Casino Hotel totalled 33 per cent of the market share and saw its revenue increase by 4.4 per cent to US$39.6 million. Moreover, Greektown Casino-Hotel reported US$27.7 million in June, a 4.4 per cent increase, and totalled a 23 per cent of the market share.
Year-to-date revenue shows that the three casinos increased the number by 1.9 per cent, and a 3.9 per cent in second-quarter revenue when compared to the same three months last year. Total second-quarter revenue was US$367.9 million.
