California closes cardrooms again
The authorities of California have mandated a new closure for cardrooms and other business due to new Covid-19 cases.
US.- California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced the renewed closure of California’s biggest cardrooms for at least three weeks.
The decision comes after a spike of at least 6,000 new confirmed Covid-19 cases in one day which has led authorities to tighten measures again in 19 counties.
According to the local press, Newsom ordered several types of indoor businesses to shut down again: cardrooms, dine-in restaurants, wineries and bars, family entertainment centers, movie theatres, zoos and museums. If the health situation is controlled, the measures will be lifted in three weeks.
The order applies to businesses in Los Angeles, Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernadino, San Joaquin, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Tulare and Ventura counties.
Venues impacted by the decision are: the Commerce Casino, Bicycle Casino, Bay 101 Casino, Stones Gambling Hall, The Gardens Casino, and Hollywood Park Casino.
Tribal casinos, regardless of location, will not be forced to adhere to the new order.
The measures do not affect San Diego so Oceans Eleven Casino and Seven Mile Casino remain open.
According to Los Angeles Times, there have been 237,068 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state with 6,152 deaths. Los Angeles has been the most impacted city by the virus, with 103,850 accumulative cases, according to Johns Hopkins University.
