“We will debut new products at ICE focused on delivering sporting data”
(Exclusive interview).- Anna Shahbazyan, Regional Director LATAM of BetConstruct, talked with Focus Gaming News about ICE 2019.
As one of the most important companies in the world, BetConstruct is ready to showcase its variety of products at this year’s ICE London, which starts tomorrow at ExCel London and is set to become the biggest one yet.
Anna Shahbazyan, Regional Director LATAM of BetConstruct, talked with Focus Gaming News about the advantages that this show brings to the company, as well as its plans for this year.
BetConstruct is constantly signing new partnerships and expanding its business around the world. How does ICE London boost these goals?
ICE London is the epicenter of the gaming industry. We will leverage the power of the event to strengthen existing partnerships and forge new ones that will propel us through 2019. With all the decision makers in one place, we can quickly and efficiently discuss terms and sign deals, which in other conditions would take much longer time.
What is the company preparing for this year’s event? Do you think the sports betting industry will be under the spotlight during the event? What does the company have in store for the sector?
The sports betting industry will be at the forefront of the event. We are preparing new products to debut at ICE London that are focused on delivering sporting data. Our AI-powered scouting tool AJNA will be the main showcase at the expo. It’s aimed at delivering a more accurate information from on-field observation coupled with new data for more betting markets.

As the race is on for legalising sports betting across the USA, BetConstruct made big strides in tailoring our sportsbook product to the American market. The American market is ripe for innovation and we plan to be in the limelight. In 2019, Sweden joined the number of liberalised Nordic regulated markets. Together with Denmark and Italy, these regions will be the focus of our attention.
What is the company planning for 2019 in general? And what were the highlights of 2018?
In 2019, we are poised to expand our coverage for new markets, including several new states in the US. We plan to offer products that capture sports bettors’ attention; it’s not just an ordinary sportsbook offering that people are used to. In 2018 we signed sports betting partnerships in multiple states solidifying our entry into the US market. This year we turned our focus from social gaming and fantasy sports to sports betting.
Do you consider the recent legalisation of sports betting in Brazil as a first step in the country to approve other modalities?
Well, we believe this is a bold step toward legalising sports betting industry in Brazil. In the future, we hope that all types of games would be legalised, but we do know it is a long process. Firstly, the legal system should be clarified and laws should be concisely defined for this industry. Then gradually new betting types might also be a matter of interest for the country such as Casino, Live Casino, Virtual Games, etc.

Would the company expand to other Latin America markets once they set a legal framework?
We always try to see the whole landscape and will always be open for new partnerships in any legal market. We believe that Latin America is striving to legalise most markets and bring in much-needed tax revenue. BetConstruct as the leading iGaming provider in the world is always looking for new opportunities to expand.
