Australia casinos pull down the shutters
To stop Coronavirus from spreading, Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced all casinos in Australia will remain closed.
Australia.- Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that land-based gaming operations must shut down, starting today. All non-esential businesses in Australia, including casinos, will no longer be authorised to open.
The government’s decision comes in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, which continues to spread.
“This should highlight to all Australians how serious this is and how hard we all have to work together to get this right,” Morrison said.
“You are dealing with the principal places of social gathering. (Those) where we saw people coming together on the weekend. If we don’t get on top of that, we look at a much more difficult health scenario into the future.”
There are 1,081 confirmed cases in Australia and seven people died from Coronavirus. Consequently, the government is taking action to stop it from spreading even more.
Casinos in Australia aren’t the only ones that had to close. On the contrary, most affected countries have taken similar measures and even Nevada shut them down.
