Amaya completes planned rebranding
The Canadian online gambling operator -now called The Stars Group- revealed that the planned rebranding has been completed.
Canada.- Amaya, the online gambling operator in charge of PokerStars, among other services, announced that the rebranding has been completed, and the company is now called The Stars Group.
The headquarters of the company have been changed as well, as the principal offices are now located in Toronto, previously built in Montreal. The new era started with a new logo, as well as a new website. The rebrand has been approved by the local regulators and allowed Amaya to change its name to The Stars Group, “TSG” on the Global Select Market, and “TSG” on the Toronto Stock Exchange, starting today. The rebrand announced in May is part of a push to bring importance to the most successful brands of the company, PokerStars and BetStars.
During the first quarter of 2017 the company reached better results than what it was initially expected: revenue increased 10 percent annually to US$317 million from January to the end of March. Net earnings rise 18.5 percent to US$65.7 million, whilst adjusted earnings grew 22 percent to US$151 million. Online poker revenue also increased 1.1 percent during those three months, the first growth reported in nine months, even though the numbers remain almost flat. On the other hand, poker revenue fell 69 percent during the first quarter. Moreover, casino and sports revenue increased 47 percent when combined to US$88 million.
