UKGC shares public opinion

UKGC released an official study that details the opinion of the public regarding the gaming industry.

UK.- The gaming industry was probed by UK citizens through a poll held by the United Kingdom Gaming Commission (UKGC). The local regulating body has released the results that show that the public consider a potential danger in gaming services. According to the official document, 69 percent of residents stated gaming could be dangerous to family life.

Furthermore, the UKGC revealed that society is in search of new regulations for the lottery sector. UKGC’s consultation on lottery operations aims at establishing more transparent codes of practice. The public’s main concern is where the money that the government gets is destined.

“Ultimately, consumers need to be confident that the money they are contributing via ticket sales is going to the people and organisations that needed it the most,” said Sarah Gardner, executive director of the Gambling Commission, to the news outlet Totally Gaming.

“Whilst the proposed changes will come as no surprise to the lottery sector, we want the wider industry and public to give their views on the proposals.” On the other hand, the public poll shows that 55 percent of residents in 2016 considered gaming should be discouraged with further legislation. The proportion was 36 percent in 2010, according to the newspaper Intergame Online.
