Gaming expansion approved in Connecticut
Connecticut Governor signed the gaming bill that allows sports betting services and a new casino in the state.
US.- Sports betting industry could become a reality in Connecticut after the state Governor Dannel Malloy signed the H 69448 this week. Legal operations could not start until the federal administration approves the amendments to current Professional And Amateur Sports Protection Act – PASPA, which only allows sports betting in Nevada.
With Malloy’s signature, the bill could set conditions to expand the gaming industry by also granting a permission to add another casino to the market and by increasing the amount of off-track betting sites for the authorised racing sector, as Legal Sports Report revealed. However, new regulations depend on the US Supreme Court Resolution.
New Jersey introduced a legal battle against PASPA in order to offer sports betting in the market. Several states have joined the complaints and shown interest in including the sector in its legal gaming offerings. “DCP is tasked with adopting regulations to regulate wagering on sporting events to the extent permitted by state and federal law,” a spokesperson for the Department of Consumer Protection commented to the news outlet.
“The Department is also aware of the New Jersey case that the US Supreme Court is taking up and will continue to monitor federal activity surrounding sports betting.”
