Sportsbooks in Nevada set new record
Nevada casino sportsbooks achieved another record in September, driven by the start of the NFL season.
US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board released on Tuesday the numbers that indicate that casino sportsbooks in the state generated gaming revenue of US$980 million in September, a 3.25 percent increase over the same month in 2016, but US$10 million less than August 2017, another month that achieved a record.
This September was the best ever by a wide margin, as last year’s handle was U$440 million, an increase of approximately US$120 million when compared to 2016, and it was also the best month for handle ever in Nevada, as the previous record was held by November 2015 to US$557 million.
Sportsbooks also generated US$45 million in revenue, the third best month ever reported. The majority of that percentage comes from college games and the NFL, which recently started in the United States.
The first quarter of the fiscal year 2018 that started on July 1 also showed that casino gaming revenue also increased 5 percent year-on-year: slot machines increased 1.6 percent to 596 million, whilst table games reported US$384 million, 5.9 percent up. Blackjack led those results as it reported a 4.4 percent rise to US$11 million, whilst baccarat also achieved good results with US$97.2 million, a 4.6 percent increase. Among the table modalities, craps was the biggest jump as it managed to increase almost 30 percent to US$36.5 million.
