Sports betting in Mississippi sets new high
The sports betting industry in Mississippi has achieved a new revenue high in October, as it totalled US$12.3 million.
US.- The Mississippi Gaming Commission has released the financial figures from October operations. During last month’s activity, the sports betting market in the state reached a new high.
Mississippi reported US$12.3 million in sports betting revenue, which is a significant increase from the US$5.6 million that the state had registered the previous month. Coastal casinos brought in 81% of the revenue in October as they held approximately 62% of the market.
Moreover, sports betting handle rose to US$48 million, approximately US$10 million more when compared to September’s US$37.9 million. Handle in October was the highest figure for Mississippi in 2019. Coastal casinos generated US$33.4 million of the total sports betting handle last month.
September’s figures
September’s handle exceeded US$37.8 million. During the previous eight months, the state averaged US$22.2 million in sports betting handle. September 2019 also was the second most profitable month in Mississippi’s sports betting’s history, only behind December 2018. Of the US$37.8 million in handle the sportsbooks totalled US$5.6 million in revenue before sending US$$50k to the state government and US$225k to the cities that host the sportsbooks.
