Spain to improve its online gambling control system

Spain’s DGOJ will improve its online gambling control system and install an alert to control iGaming players’ identities.

Spain.- As the Spanish authorities assess changes for the gaming industry, regulator DGOJ implements new technologies. As highlighted by the body’s director, a new alert will be installed to control identity impersonation.

With the “phishing alert”, DGOJ will avoid the underaged and self-excluded gamblers to access to online platforms with fake IDs. That way, they’ll enhance restrictions, as demanded by different segments of society and political parties.

DGOJ’s head Juan Espinosa explained they seek to eradicate the “wrongful impression that people that must not enter Spain’s online gambling environments keep doing so.”

The measure is included within a work strategy by DGOJ for the rest of the year. As the regulator explained, “it’s one out of 18 initiatives the government will develop this year and the next.” They seek to get Spain an online gambling segment that complies with responsible gaming.
