Casino revenue flat in Mississippi

Casino revenue results in Mississippi matched sports betting’s performance and posted flat numbers.

US.- The casino industry in Mississippi posted flat revenue results in April, according to the Mississippi Gaming Commission. Gambling facilities along the Mississippi River reported more wins for bettors, while the ones along the Gulf Coast posted underwhelming results.

The figures released by the gambling regulator indicate that gamblers lost US$183 million in April. This is essentially the same amount registered during the same period last year.

The 15 river casinos reported a 4.3% increase in revenue from April 2018 to US$78 million. This was the eight increase in nine months for the territory, which hasn’t experienced great results in the last few years.

Furthermore, the 12 coastal casinos posted a 3% fall in revenue to US$105 million. However, this was only the second decrease in 10 months.

Flat results in casino revenue match sports betting’s poor performance

April figures were disappointing nationwide, and sports betting in Mississippi was no exception. Revenue was down 58% to US$2.1 million. Revenue came from the US$19.2 million wagered statewide, down 40.8% from the previous month. Mississippi coast casinos led the market as punters wagered US$11.9 million (61.8%) to reach US$1.1 million in revenue.
