US.- Penn National Gaming has opened its new Hollywood Casino York in the York Galleria Mall, in South Pennsylvania.

The casino opened an hour earlier than planned due to the number of people waiting at the door. An estimated 1,000 people entered the casino in the first hour.

The 24-hour venue revamps the former York Galleria Mall, in Sringettsbury Township. Occupying about 80,000 square feet, it hosts nearly 500 slot machines and 24 table games.

Kevin Schreiber, president of the York County Economic Alliance said: “It’s a shot in the arm for the tourism industry, the hospitality industry and obviously it’s just more reason for optimism as we really look forward to recovery after this pandemic.”

York County president commissioner Julie Wheeler said: “Instead of going and building an entirely new location, they took some space here in our community that needed to be rehabbed.”
