Nevada releases May results

Nevada has shared last month’s results of online and land-based gaming operations.

US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) published May reports of gaming operations this week. The regulator revealed that  local operators were near the US$1 billion gaming revenue mark last month. The results also followed a third monthly year-over-year revenue growth.

“It was a very positive month for Nevada gaming revenues,” Mike Lawton, senior analyst with the control board, commented to CBS Las Vegas. “We are pleased.” Last month’s reports showed an increase of 3.5 percent compared to the same period in 2016.

However, sports betting operations revealed a drop of nearly 50 percent on betting revenue. Sports betting total result was US$3 million, whilst players bet US$312.2 million last month. As local casinos are closing several poker rooms and new sports betting operators are presenting plans to expand the industry in the state, it is expected that the recently regulated sector could report better results soon. According to Lawton, last month’s lower results came from a negative basketball betting operations.

On the other hand, Nevada casinos generated US$991.6 million. Table games contributed with US$344.4 million and slot machines with US$647.2 million, as reported by the news outlet. Meanwhile, casinos in Las Vegas Strip grew 3 percent year-over-year, to almost US$546.8 million.
