Mississippi sports betting revenue drops again
Revenue for the month dropped 86.8 per cent year-on-year to $648,646.60 due to the impact of Covid-19.
US.- Sports betting revenue in Mississippi has continued to drop with the global Coronavirus pandemic affecting casinos and live sports in the state.
Revenue for the month dropped 86.8 per cent year-on-year to $648,646.60.
This was mostly due to the March Madness tournament not taking place due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The event previously drove high customer activity in the prior year.
Amounts wagered declined 66.8 per cent compared with March 2019 to $10.7million. This also represents a 68.8 per cent fall from February 2020.
The cancellation of March Madness and other sporting events was compounded by the forced casino closure in the state.
Casinos have also been closed in Mississippi since March 16th, driving a further decline in sports betting revenue.
