Mississippi coast casinos reopen

The facilities had closed this week due to preparations for weather issues.

US.- The Mississippi Gaming Commission has said that Coast casinos – that had been temporarily closed due to Tropical Storm Gordon – are back open. The facilities had been closed for hours but restarted operations on Wednesday morning.

The local gaming regulator said that guests are able to return to the casino floor and start placing bets once the facilities get their staff in order. On Tuesday afternoon the commission ordered casinos to close as a precautionary measure due to the track of Tropical Storm Gordon.

However, during the closure guests were able to stay at hotels and inside the properties, but the gaming floors had to be closed. Eric Newton, the executive director of security at the Beau Rivage, told local media: “People had been in their rooms or in the restaurants and so there was some built up energy. They were excited to get going and so there was a good crowd waiting to get in and get started.”
