Massachusetts reviews online gambling
The local commission that has been studying the industry for months claimed that online gambling would help the economy in Massachusetts.
US.- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission said that the legalisation of the online gambling would help the state to regulate and tax already existing wagering sites. Additionally, it would turn the state into a technology leader.
According to the Boston Globe, state Senator Jennifer Flanaga, D-Leominister, said that the online gaming world is evolving every day: “It’s constantly changing with new products and new technology. We’re trying to stay on top of it. But it isn’t easy.” The official believes that the legalisation of the online gambling industry would turn the state into a producer of support software. “I think there’s a lot of merit to the idea of encouraging developers to come to Massachusetts to create the next big thing,” she added. There’s still to be determined if new regulations would authorise just instant win virtual scratch cards or if virtual slot-type games would be permited. Flanagan presented a proposal earlier this month that leaves that decision up to the lottery commission.
State treasurer Deborah Goldberg, who introduced a bill that would authorise the Massachusetts State Lottery to offer online games, said online, and particullarly mobile sales are crucial to bring in young costumers. Lottery profit projections fall for the next two fiscal years as it made US$989.4 million in 2016.
