Louisiana casinos’ revenue, up 9.2 pct in August
Gambling venues in the state brought in US$212 million in August and improved from last year’s US$194 million.
US.- The Louisiana Gaming Control Board (LGCB) revealed that gaming venues in the state raked US$212 million and improved 9.2% from last year’s US$194 million. The figure involves winnings at the 15 riverboat casinos, four racinos and the land-based Harrah’s casino, while video poker terminals in other venues were up 7.4% to US$49.8 million.
According to the LGCB, Baton Rouge’s three riverboats posted IS$20.2 million in winnings last month, falling 9.1% from last year’s nearly US$22.2 million. The Belle of Baton Rouge posted the biggest drop at -26.6%, followed by the Hollywood Baton Rouge at -16%.
On the other end, New Orleans saw an 8.2% improvement as local gambling venues reached winnings of US$49.6 million. The increase was led by Harrah’s 7.5% improvement, while Fair Grounds racetrack led racing venues with a 10.1% improvement from US$3.2 million to US$3.5 million.
Other markets also posted revenue increases, with Lake Charles improving 18.5% to US$79.3 million, Shreveport-Bossier City 6.9% to US$56.4 million and the Acadiana market 2.3% to US$6.5 million.
