Japan could set new rules

The Japanese authorities could approve further regulations regarding casino construction.

Japan.- Global Market Advisors LLC (GMA) released a statement noting that the government could approve a rule regulating that “the size of gaming floor in any Japanese casino should correlate to estimates of consumer demand, calculated jointly by the industry and government, rather than to a predetermined maximum,” as reported by GGRAsia.

The GMA statement has shown that the government keeps evaluating the upcoming legislation on casino industry. “This process may be held up due to a busy fall schedule and the political tensions with North Korea,” said the memo from GMA. According to Japanese media reports, Mr Abe had promised during the election campaign to take a robust line on Japan’s northern neighbour, which recently launched several missiles over Japanese territory.

Meanwhile, potential casino operators and international industry’s representatives held a national meeting at Tokyo’s Imperial Hotel, where businessmen assessed the upcoming regulations and casino development. The casino industry in Japan is one of the most expected projects in the world due to its highly potential and profitability.

However, experts consider that the industry’s success would depend on local demand for gaming, which could be very limited by the national government. Japanese legislators aim at reducing local presence in casinos to prevent problem gambling.
