Georgia opens bid process for lottery and igaming license
The Government launched a request for proposal to pick a company to run the national lottery on a 10 year deal.
Georgia.- According to the Government’s plan, the winning company will run the lottery both across retailers and online as well as introduce new products with government approval. Georgia privatised its lottery in 2009 after the contract was awarded to the Georgian Lottery Company.
Contenders for the contract include IGT, SciGames, UK National Lottery operator Camelot, Tatts, Intralot, Playtech and NeoPollard. The government is said to be looking for one single source for all the products but they don’t disregard the possibility of having a lottery platform provider and a different supplier.
According to multiple sources, discussing which products to license and the enforcement against illegal operators will be a central part of the request for proposal process. Representatives of the government expect to meet potential bidders later this month with a planned closing date for the process on December 12.
The bidders are expected to offer an up front payment of €3 million for the ten year exclusive contract.
