Encore Boston Harbor president steps down

Robert DeSalvio, president of the Encore Boston Harbor casino in Massachusetts, has stepped down just five months after it opened its doors.

US.- The Encore Boston Harbor opened just five months ago in Massachusetts but is already undergoing major changes. Over the last few hours, the resort’s president Robert DeSalvio has stepped down.

After DeSalvio’s announcement, Brian Gullbrants will take over the Encore Boston Harbor. He is a former leader of hotel, food and beverage operations at Encore.

“Bob DeSalvio’s ability to partner with community leaders and elected officials, assemble a world-class team and lead them to produce and launch a project of the highest quality is remarkable,” Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox said in a statement provided by the company.

Performance

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission released this week the financial report from August operations. Encore Boston Harbor generated US$52.4 million in revenues, although the facility considers that its slots performance was “soft”.

The Everett facility registered US$32.2 million in table revenue, while slots revenue amounted US$20 million during last month’s operations. Total gaming revenue in August was US$4 million higher than what it registered in July. However, slots revenue declined by US$1 million.

Bob De Salvio had said that they have experienced great revenue results in the first two months of operations. However, he mentioned that slots revenue was still low and that the company is considering making some changes.

“We’re actually adding a few more tables on the casino floor as we speak, but I will tell you the slots business has been soft,” he said.
