Mobile sports betting thrives in Illinois
Ameristar, in partnership with DraftKings, has launched mobile sports betting in East Chicago and is outpacing its competitors’ sportsbooks.
US.- The gambling industry continues to transform in the US. That’s why mobile sports betting arrived at Ameristar Casino in East Chicago in partnership with DraftKings.
According to recent figures, such vertical is pushing the casino’s numbers ahead of its competitors.
Thanks to mobile, Ameristar’s sports betting tax was US$$477k in October. It was better than Blue Chip Casino’s (US$86k) and Horseshoe Hammond’s (US$163k), the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) said. Both runner-ups offer on-site sportsbooks only.
Sara Tait, IGC executive director explained the mobile sports betting platform pushed the improved results. “DraftKing’s mobile platform is tied to Ameristar and included in the total tax amount — hence the higher amount,” she said.
Chicago casino proposal
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is pushing the development of a casino there.
Mayor Lightfoot is driving forward two options for a venue. The first vows for a mixed ownership: shared by the city and the state. The other one would just be a privately-owned development.
Despite Mayor’s push for a Chicago casino, she asked the Legislature to favour its arrival. Most noteworthy, she wants them to approve lower taxes than the ones that the expanded gambling legislation set.
