Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw to cut 500 workers after being forced to close their doors due to Coronavirus.

Canada.- More than 500 workers at Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan, Canada, will lose their jobs as a result of both properties being forced to close their doors due to Coronavirus.

The job losses were announced by SaskGaming, which operates both properties. Casino Regiona and Casino Moose Jaw both closed their doors on 17 March and look set to remain closed for the foreseeable future.

SaskGaming said that it was going to pay workers for two weeks following the closures and that employees could return to their previous jobs when the casinos reopened.

This was done with the aim of providing job security and for employees to access government programs.

According to CBC news, the Regional Executive Vice President for the union representing casino workers, Marianne Hladun, said: “We were very surprised. In fact, I think we were all blindsided.”
