Bet365 posts revenue 10 pct higher
In its latest financial report, Bet365 showed its revenue grew by 10% for the 12 months ending March 31, 2019, reaching €3.5 billion.
UK.- The sports betting industry is a major moneymaker worldwide. Bet365 is witness to that, as its revenue for the 12 months to March 31, 2019, jumped by 10%. In its latest financial report, it disclosed an increased €3.5 billion for that period.
The document also shows a 12% increase in its operating profit to €908 million as customers grew by 23%.
Bet365 disclosed that its revenue followed a 23% increase in the amount bet on sports. The figure rose to €76 million, with in-play wagering representing 79% of total sports revenue. Moreover, mobile sports revenue jumped 18% during the fiscal year.
According to Bet365, revenue from the FIFA World Cup in 2018 was the main reason behind its success. Also, reduced direct costs as a result of a non-recurring charge in the prior period.
Denise Coates, Bet365 CEO, said the evolution of the operator’s sports offering and gaming products – with investment in the development of in-house games, native apps and the growth of live casino – was also important.
Bet365 new department
Bet365 has recently announced that it will create a new department that will be based in Manchester. Hillside Technology, the technology business of Bet365, will create a new department to introduce DevOps practices.
According to the company, the DevOps team will work to identify new principles, technologies and ways of working that can drive operational automation. They will also aim to find ways to increase monitoring sophistication.
“As the scale and scope of our business has increased, so the underlying technologies and platform that support it have become more complex,” said Steven Briggs, Hillside Technology’s new Head of DevOps. “The critical question is how to keep pace with the consistent need to release software while ensuring the platform remains stable and secure? Modernising our approach to operational and release activity is imperative and we believe a DevOps approach can help with this.
