Arkansas Wins needs 84,859 signatures before July 8 to place the issue on the ballot.

US.- Arkansas Wins wants to open casinos in Miller, Washington and Boone counties, but it has until July 8 to obtain 84,859 signatures to place the issue on the ballot.

Leslie Rutledge, Arkansas Attorney General approved the popular name and ballot title of a proposed amendment in June 1, allowing supporters to start gathering signatures on a petition. The issue will make it to the ballot only if enough signatures are gathered.

The popular name is “An Amendment to Allow Three Casinos to Operate in Arkansas, One Each in the Following Counties: Boone County, Operated by Arkansas Gaming and Resorts, LLC (Limited Liability Company); Miller County, Operated by Miller County Gaming, LLC; and Washington County, Operated by Washington County Gaming, LLC.”

According to said Robert Coon, a spokesman and lobbyist with Impact Management Group, the amendment would authorise one casino in each county,

“The committee is required to submit 84,859 valid signatures, which is 10 percent of the votes cast for governor in the last general election. The deadline to submit the signatures will be July 8. The committee is also required to obtain sufficient signatures from 15 counties,” Coon said.
