Alpha Cora to develop a casino resort in Spain

A massive casino resort project is set to be developed in Extremadura, Spain, by Alpha Cora group.

Spain.- Former Disney executive John Cora has filed a proposal with the authorities of the autonomous community of Extremadura in order to develop a massive casino resort project that would include gaming venues, hotels and other entertainment halls.

According to recent reports, the resort casino mega-project would be called Elysium City or Ciudad Feliz (Happy City). It would involve “entertainment & adventure parks, hotels, housing, casinos, a football stadium, stores & restaurants” as it seeks to become “one of the largest tourism attractions in southern Europe” with a projected 4.5 million visitors during its first year of operations.

The project’s developer foresees major traffic of European clientele as it is located just 228 kilometres from Barajas international airport in Madrid. Furthermore, it is located close to the revamped route 502, just turned into a highway, which would help tourists to reach the entertainment centre.

The plans are to develop the Elysium resort on a 1,200-hectare parcel of land in the Extremaduran town of Castilblanco through several phases throughout which Alpha Cora plans to invest up to €11.8 billion. The first phase would consist of a casino, four hotels and other entertainment features and would be completed in 2023 should the project get approved.
