Agua Caliente breaks ground of third casino

The Agua Caliente broke ground at the site where the tribe’s third casino will be built in downtown Cathedral City.

US.- The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians hosted an event on Monday in which they broke ground at the site of what will become their third casino. The facility will be located in downtown Cathedral City.

The casino’s plans detail that it will have 500 Class III gaming machines, roulette and eight table games, Desert Sun reported. It will also have restaurants, bars and tribal government offices. Once the facility opens its doors, more than 556 jobs will be created. The casino is scheduled to be open 24 hours a day, every day.

The event featured the presence of officials like Cathedral City Mayor Mark Carnavale, County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, D-Coachella, and Assemblyman Chad Mayes, R-Yucca Valley, the news outlet reported.

Tribal Chairman Jeff L. Grubbe said: “Being a tribal leader, not every tribe has the relationship that we have with our local cities,” and added that the ceremony was the result of that relationship. “Working with Cathedral City for the benefit of the community, not just for the tribe, not just the city, but all of us together,” he added.
