AGA comments on MLB-MGM announcement

The association said that the agreement is a step towards the elimination of an illegal market.

US.- MGM Resorts International and the Major League Baseball (MLB) announced this week that they signed a multiyear marketing agreement, and the American Gaming Association (AGA) believes that it is beneficial for the industry.

MGM will use the league’s logo, data and statistics to expand its offering across the country. However, the deal leaves the door open for the MLB to sign similar partnerships with other companies in the future.

Sara Slane, senior vice president of public affairs for the American Gaming Association, said that agreements between sports leagues and the gaming industry enable all sports stakeholders to work together to eliminate the illegal sports betting market.

“With MLB’s announcement, three major sports leagues now have official sports betting partners – evidence of our continued commitment to protecting the integrity of both consumers and sporting competitions and that contracts remain preferential to statutes in all sports betting deals,” said Slane.
