VIP play falls 50 percent in Macau

Macau’s VIP casino GRR from its six biggest operators only accounted for 44 percent of the market in the third quarter.

Macau.- According to Union Gaming Securities Asia Ltd, the results are the lowest mix ever compared to the revenue that was generated by mass segment play. The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) said that VIP baccarat GGR of the third quarter made up 52 percent of all the GGR that were generated by casino games.

Grant Govertsen, an Union Gaming analyst, said that “the DICJ quarterly numbers no longer paint an accurate picture due to table reclassifications.” The DICJ reported that the casino GGR that includes slot machines and live multi game electronic tables showed an increase of 3.9 percent year-on-year from June to September.

Whilst aggregate results from June to September from Macau’s six big operators showed that VIP casino GGR accounted for only 44 percent of the market, mass table GGR grew 1 percent in the third quarter.
