Ontario lottery hands millions to communities

Local communities saw an increase on their revenue.

Canada.- The Ontario Lottery And Gaming Corporation (OLG) announced that they gave away approximately US$20 million to 23 host communities. The non-gaming revenue fee includes the three months from October.

Member of the Ontario Legislative Assembly Michael Gravelle told The Chronicle-Journal that the Ontario Lottery And Gaming Corporation provides host municipalities with significant revenues each year that help communities invest in local priorities such as infrastructure and programs and services that benefit local families. “Along with supporting local development, these funds directly benefit Ontario’s vital public services such as health care and education,” he added.

The gaming corporation said that they provide the largest single non-tax income of annual revenues with US$1.5 billion. “OLG provides host municipalities with significant revenue each year that helps communities invest in local priorities such as infrastructure, programs and services that benefit Ontario families. Along with supporting local development, these funds also benefit Ontario’s vital public services such as health care and education,” said Charles Sousa, Ontario’s Minister of Finance.
